About this subject

A large inscribed boulder monument on a rough stone base, set in a grassy enclosure with low stone walls and a small shed-like building behind it. The inscription commemorates the landing of the first Swedish colonists and the site of Fort Christina, and records that the monument was erected by the Delaware Society of Colonial Dames of America in 1903.

Undivided back ('This side for the Address only'), Litho-Chrome imprint, white border; stamp torn at bottom edge; pencil dealer marks '112 2.00' at top.
