About this postcard
A reconstructed log stockade and blockhouse of Fort Dearborn, shown with its central tower, palisade fence and frame outbuildings beside a roadway and lamp post. The original Fort Dearborn, built at the mouth of the Chicago River in 1803, was destroyed in the 1812 battle and massacre that bears its name; this replica was erected as a historical exhibit at Chicago's Century of Progress International Exposition of 1933–34. The card's linen texture and Curt Teich production number date it to that fair era.
