About this postcard

An aerial view looks over Fort Pike, its red brick walls set among trees on the shore, with the long Rigolets Bridge crossing the water behind it toward a green shoreline. The caption calls Fort Pike one of the forts near New Orleans, built in 1819 on the Old Spanish Trail (U.S. 90) and recently restored as a state park. The toll-free Rigolets span connects Lake Borgne and Lake Pontchartrain and was known as a fishing resort; the caption notes that the Rigolets lies within New Orleans city limits even though it is about 35 miles from Canal Street.
