About this postcard

A smiling woman in a yellow dress and pink sash balances a large tray on her head. The tray holds fruit, a bottle, and a baked loaf or cake, with evergreen branches behind her. Gold script at the top reads "Fröhliche Weihnachten!" The tray of holiday food and the evergreen suggest a festive gift-bringer or a household prepared for Christmas. Austrian Christmas postcards of the early 1900s often used such costumed figures to carry seasonal wishes.
