Friendship greeting card with pansies and purple ribbon, circa 1909

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A lithographed friendship greeting card showing a cluster of pansies in purple, yellow and blue, tied with a lavender ribbon at the right and framed by gold scrollwork and a gold bow. The verse wishes the recipient good fortune and asks that, like old friends, it prove true, with a small gold plaque reading "From a friend." Cards of this style were exchanged as inexpensive tokens of affection in the early 20th century, and the printed copyright line dates the design to 1909.
