About this postcard

A view down the roadway of the Gandy Bridge, its white wooden railings and line of lamp posts receding toward the low shoreline across open water, with a single red automobile approaching. The card's own caption identifies it as the Gandy Bridge, "Six Miles Long, between Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla." The Gandy Bridge, named for promoter George Shepard Gandy, opened in 1924 as a privately built toll span and gave motorists the first direct roadway link across Tampa Bay between Tampa and St. Petersburg.
