About this postcard

The garden of the Ludwell-Paradise House opens with a path bordered by tulips, leading toward white picket fencing and the brick and white frame wings of the house. The house is an 18th-century Georgian residence on Duke of Gloucester Street, restored as part of Colonial Williamsburg. It was built by Philip Ludwell II of Greenspring and later occupied by his granddaughter Lucy Ludwell, who married John Paradise of London, an intimate friend of Dr. Samuel Johnson.
