A long line of horse-drawn mowers, each with a driver, cuts across a broad field of bluegrass. The teams are spaced across the open ground, with scattered trees and a low horizon beyond. The caption calls the crop the famous blue grass seed of Kentucky. In the early 20th century, the Bluegrass region was known for its pastures and for seed production, and harvesting the seed was a specialized farm job.
