About this postcard

The General Motors Building fills the view in Detroit's New Center District, a block-long office building with arched ground-floor openings and a dense grid of windows rising above street trees. Completed in 1923 from designs by Albert Kahn, it served as GM's headquarters and housed showrooms for the company's car divisions; the printed caption promises "the beautiful display of Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Cadillac." The building later became Cadillac Place and now holds State of Michigan offices.
