About this postcard

An elevated view looks across the Vienne toward Aixe-sur-Vienne, where white-walled houses and tiled roofs cluster along the far bank. Terraced hills rise behind the town, and a large bare tree frames the left foreground above a grassy slope. The sender, Earl, calls the scene "only a small part of the town" and remarks on the character of the country and its many beautiful scenes. Aixe-sur-Vienne lies on the Vienne in Haute-Vienne, near Limoges, and the view shows the river, clustered roofs, and wooded slopes that define the town's setting.
