About this postcard
The card shows the George Washington Masonic National Memorial, a white neoclassical temple with a stepped, colonnaded tower rising above terraced gardens and a curving drive, set against a sunset sky. Dedicated in 1932 and modeled in part on the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, the memorial honors George Washington as a Freemason and serves as the headquarters of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial Association. The landscaped terraces and shrub-bordered walks seen here were part of the memorial's grounds on Shooter's Hill overlooking the city.
