About this postcard

A high, curving trestle carries the narrow-gauge track of the Colorado & Southern Railway around a bend above a wooded mountain valley, with steep, sparsely timbered slopes rising on both sides. The Georgetown Loop linked the silver-mining towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume, gaining roughly 600 feet over about four and a half miles through tight curves, a loop, and high bridges. Its Devil's Gate bridge made the line one of Colorado's best-known railroad sights. The route was abandoned in 1939 and later rebuilt in part as a heritage railroad.
