A tinted view of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, a large classical revival building of granite and limestone with a tall central dome topped by a small lantern, seen across a lawn with young trees and a few strolling figures. The caption names it simply "The Capitol, Atlanta." Completed in 1889 to designs by Willoughby J. Edbrooke and Franklin P. Burnham, the building houses the Georgia General Assembly and the governor's offices; its dome, shown here in stone tones, was not gilded until 1958.
Thin white margin at edges; light edge and corner wear; faint publisher imprint at lower left.
Postmark: AMESBURY MASS. DEC 3 6-PM 1905 (receiving); sending cancel DEC 1 8-AM 1905. Undivided back with "THE ADDRESS TO BE WRITTEN ON THIS SIDE.", Tuck's "Atlanta" series No. 2218, 1¢ Franklin stamp; light toning and edge wear.
