Two tall saguaro cacti rise from open desert ground, flowering shrubs clustered at their bases, with low mountains along the horizon and a pale, pastel sky above. The scene is titled simply "Giant Cactus."
El Paso sits at the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert below the Franklin Mountains, and views of oversized cacti and dry mountain country were standard souvenirs for travelers crossing the Southwest. Milwaukee's E. C. Kropp Company printed large runs of color view cards for that tourist trade in the 1930s and 1940s.
Linen texture; no white border; printed caption "GIANT CACTUS" at top.
No postmark. Undivided back ("Post Card" with stamp box, no divider); Kropp stamp box with E C / K C corner marks; textured "Natural Color Card" stock; distributed by Henry S. Beach, El Paso, Texas; dealer pencil mark "#59 1-" lower right. No message, no address.
