The Going to the Sun Highway curves along a steep mountainside in Glacier National Park, with a low guardrail following the road's outer edge. Dense evergreen forest covers the slopes, and snow-dusted peaks rise beyond the trees. The highway was a major park road project of the 1920s and 1930s, built to carry automobile tourists into the park's high mountain country.
