About this postcard
A brightly colored view of the Golden Temple of Jehol, a full-size replica of a Chinese Buddhist temple with tiered golden-yellow roofs, red columns and green-and-gold bracket work, set on a low stone platform with a few small figures on the steps. The original temple stood at Jehol (Chengde) in China, and the replica was one of the attractions of the 1933-34 Century of Progress International Exposition in Chicago, where foreign villages and pavilions lined the fairgrounds. The card's saturated palette and ribbed stock are typical of the linen-era views issued for the fair.
