Goldfield Municipal High School, Goldfield, NV, circa 1915

About this postcard

The photograph shows the Goldfield Municipal High School, a large two-story brick and stone building with a gabled central section, a deep round-arched entrance at the top of a broad flight of steps, and a tall flagpole at the right. A low outbuilding and open ground sit to the left under a cloudy sky. Goldfield was a gold-mining boomtown, and the school's scale reflected the population that gathered there in the early 1900s. The printed caption notes that the building was still in very good condition and that its size bore witness to the town's former population.
