About this postcard
Gondoliers pole their black gondolas across the green water of Venice's Grand Canal, with the ornate Gothic facade of the Ca' d'Oro — its pointed arcades and tracery picked out in pink and ochre — rising on the left bank. Moored poles line the water in front of the palazzi, and a domed church closes the view in the distance. The Ca' d'Oro, built for the Contarini family in the 15th century, is among the best-preserved examples of Venetian Gothic palace architecture on the canal.
