About this postcard
The card pictures a turned-wood armchair with a spindled back beside a hooded woven cradle, identified in the printed caption as Gov. Carver's chair and the cradle of Peregrine White at Pilgrim Hall. Pilgrim Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a museum founded in 1824 that preserves relics associated with the Mayflower passengers; John Carver was the colony's first governor, and Peregrine White, born aboard the Mayflower in 1620, was the first English child born in New England. The cradle is a traditional attribution.
