About this postcard
The view shows the Red House, a large red government building with green roofs and a central cupola, set behind a lawn and hedges. Palm trees and a tall flagpole frame the approach, and a utility pole stands at the left edge. The building is Trinidad's Government Headquarters, known as the Red House. In Port of Spain, the Red House served as the seat of the island's colonial government and later as the home of Parliament. The formal grounds and flagpole present it as a center of public authority in early 20th-century Trinidad.
