About this postcard

A view along Government Walk, the tree-lined promenade that runs in front of Bath House Row in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with stone balustrades and piers lining the walk, strollers in period dress, and a domed tower rising above the trees in the distance. Bath House Row grew up beside the hot springs of the Ouachita Mountains, and by the early 20th century the row of masonry bathhouses and the adjoining government reservation made Hot Springs one of the country's most visited health resorts, later protected as Hot Springs National Park. The walk itself was laid out by the federal government as a promenade for visitors taking the waters.
