About this postcard

A black-and-white view of the Louisiana Governor's Mansion, a large white neoclassical building with a columned portico, a balustraded roofline, and tall windows, seen from a curving drive framed by mature trees and shrubs. The caption names it simply as the Governor's Mansion, Baton Rouge. This is the mansion completed in 1930 during Huey P. Long's governorship, designed in the Greek Revival manner by the New Orleans firm Weiss, Dreyfous and Seiferth and sometimes called Louisiana's White House; it served as the governor's residence until the present mansion opened in 1963.
