About this postcard

Aerial view of Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River in Washington, showing the long concrete dam, spillway, powerhouses, a steel bridge downstream, and a residential area on the right bank. The dam was completed in the early 1940s as a major Columbia River power and irrigation project. The sender's note describes visiting that August and seeing water coming over the top, different from an earlier visit.

Aug. 17th Bonner's Ferry Idaho Dear Grandpa, Visited Coulee Dam today with lots of water coming over the top, quite different from when we saw it before. On to Lake Louise tomorrow. Stayed last night at Lake Chelan - very lovely, especially with full moon reflected in it. We saw a sea-plane land in the lake right in front of us. Lyman says hello. Love, Margaret Wiltshire
