About this postcard

The domed mausoleum of Ulysses S. Grant stands on its terraced plaza above the Hudson River, with the wooded Palisades cliffs rising across the water and a river landing with a steamer below. Grant's Tomb, formally the General Grant National Memorial, was designed by John Hemenway Duncan and completed in 1897 in Riverside Park, Morningside Heights, Manhattan, where the remains of President Grant and his wife Julia Dent Grant lie. The Palisades on the opposite bank are the diabase cliffs that line the New Jersey shore of the Hudson.
