About this postcard
The picture shows the pagoda-style facade of Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, with its green tiled roof, tall spire-topped towers, red-canopied forecourt and a crowd of visitors at the entrance. Opened in 1927 by showman Sid Grauman and designed in an exotic Chinese Revival style, the theatre is best known for the concrete forecourt where film stars left their handprints and footprints. The card's linen texture and Curt Teich production code date the view to roughly the late 1930s or early 1940s.
