Greetings from Buckley Field, east of Denver, Colorado, circa 1943

About this postcard

A large-letter "Greetings from" card whose blocky letters spell BUCKLEY FIELD, each letter filled with a different Colorado scene — mountain lakes, red-rock canyons, forest and park views — while two twin-engine bombers fly across the pale blue sky above and a stylized burst of light rises at lower left. Buckley Field was established in 1942 east of Denver as an Army Air Forces training installation and named for 1st Lt. John H. Buckley, a Colorado aviator killed in France in 1918; it later became Buckley Air Force Base and then Buckley Space Force Base. The Curt Teich linen-finish "Greetings from" large-letter format was a staple of wartime-era tourist and military-base cards.
