About this postcard

A large-letter greeting card spells out "FARRAGUT" in blue block letters, each filled with small views of the Naval Training Station — barracks, drill formations, a ship's anchor insignia marked "USN", and sailors with the American flag — above a lake and mountain backdrop. Farragut Naval Training Station was built on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho and commissioned in 1942; during World War II it was one of the largest naval training centers in the world, graduating hundreds of thousands of recruits before closing in 1946.
