About this postcard

The word KANSAS is filled with small views of the state: a combine harvester, an airplane, a statue, cattle, the State Capitol at Topeka, and a sunflower. The caption's "State Capital" refers to the Kansas State Capitol, which appears again below the letters, and the sunflower is labeled "State Flower the Sunflower." The card also names Kansas the Sunflower State and gives its 1940 population, area, and admission to the Union on Jan. 29, 1861. Topeka's State Capitol is the seat of Kansas government, and the sunflower has long served as the state's symbol.
