About this postcard
A multi-view "Greetings from" card for Ocean City, New Jersey, with four oval vignettes — gulls over the surf, sailboats offshore, a motor launch crowded with bathers, and a moonlit sea — around a central tilted panel of a black dog sitting on the sand. Ocean City is a barrier-island resort on the southern New Jersey shore, laid out in 1879 as a dry, family-oriented seaside town, and cards of this style were sold to summer visitors. The linen-textured stock and bright, airbrushed coloring are typical of the late 1930s through the 1940s.
