About this postcard
The words SIOUX CITY IOWA fill the card, each letter packed with small views of the city: a steel truss bridge over the Missouri River, an obelisk monument, likely the Sergeant Floyd Monument, and a mix of commercial and civic buildings. A four-engine bomber and a twin-engine plane flank the lettering, with a winged propeller emblem in the upper right. The mix presents Sioux City as a modern river city with an aviation presence. Large-letter greetings were a popular way to send a city's landmarks in the 1930s and 1940s, and Sioux City's Missouri River setting and livestock and rail trade made it a regional hub.
