About this postcard
A composite greeting card for The Weirs on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, combining a framed view of the side-wheel steamer Mount Washington on the water, a medallion portrait labeled C. F. H. Wentworth, and a wooded lakeshore vignette behind the ornate lettering. The Weirs, a village of Laconia at the outlet of Lake Winnipesaukee, was a busy summer resort served by steamers such as the Mount Washington, launched in 1872 and long a fixture of lake excursions. The portrait identifies a figure associated with the steamer, presented here as part of the resort's promotion.
