Greetings from Virginia — winding highway with 1950s automobile, circa 1955

About this postcard

A red 1950s sedan and a dark car travel a curving two-lane highway that sweeps through grassy hills and dense green woodland, with telephone poles following the road; the large red greeting 'Greetings From Virginia' is printed across the sky. Such state-greeting cards were a staple of mid-century American roadside tourism, when the new interstate and improved highway system made auto touring popular. The styling of the cars and the chrome-era color printing point to the 1950s.
