About this postcard
A large-letter greeting card in which the word "WISCONSIN" is filled with scenes of the state: the dome of the Wisconsin State Capitol at Madison, a monument statue, a lake with a motorboat and a fisherman, a rock formation, woodland, and a red barn with dairy cows in the foreground, with hollyhocks rising behind the letters. Large-letter cards of this style were a specialty of the Chicago firm Curt Teich & Co., whose "C.T. Art-Colortone" linen-finish stock dominated American roadside postcards in the late 1930s and 1940s. The imagery emphasizes Wisconsin's identity as a dairy state and a land of lakes and state parks.
