The picture shows Grotto Geyser, its thick, cratered sinter cone pierced by several irregular arches, rising beside a still pool with a pine forest behind. A small white park sign on a post at right is headed "GROTTO GEYSER." Grotto is one of the older, cone-building geysers of the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, noted for the odd, cave-like openings that give it its name; the "2A-H690" number is a Curt Teich production code typical of linen-era views of the park.
Linen-textured stock with a white border; small printed sign in the image is largely illegible beyond its heading. Curt Teich-style number 2A-H690 at lower right.
No postmark — card is unused. Divided-back linen-texture card with white border (front); blue-ink imprint "C.T. ART-COLORTONE," SANBORN SOUVENIR CO., DENVER, COLO. and a "PLACE ONE CENT STAMP HERE" box; light toning/soiling, no writing.
