About this postcard

Grouseland stands behind a lawn shaded by large trees, its two-story white facade set off by red shutters and a columned porch. William Henry Harrison built and occupied the Vincennes house while governor of Indiana Territory, when Vincennes was the territory's capital. The mansion later became known as the White House of the West. On the lawn Harrison met Chief Tecumseh and about seventy-five warriors from several tribes in what became a celebrated interview. Harrison went on to become the ninth president. The Daughters of the American Revolution bought the house and maintain it as a historic site for visitors.
