About this postcard
A paved highway curves through rocky, scrub-covered desert foothills toward the dark, towering mass of Guadalupe Peak, which rises against a pale blue sky. A small plume of cloud or smoke sits at the summit. The peak is the highest point in Texas, set in the Guadalupe Mountains near the New Mexico line, and U.S. 62 carried travelers through the region toward Carlsbad Caverns. The sender's note comments on the desert's dryness, with the line "No rain and so many water holes dried up" and asks whether the view recalls a past summer trip.
