The card pictures the gray, mansard-roofed house with dormer windows and shuttered facade that the caption calls Harriet Beecher Stowe's former residence in Hartford, Connecticut, set among bare trees with a smaller wing at the left. Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, lived in Hartford's Nook Farm neighborhood from 1873 until her death in 1896, in a community that also drew her neighbor Mark Twain. The house became a literary landmark and is now preserved as the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center.
Red printed caption across the top; narrow white margin at edges; diagonal crease and wear at the upper left corner.
No postmark. Divided-back color lithograph with 'This Space below for Writing' and 'Place the Stamp Here' box; 'Made in Germany' imprint; unused, light edge wear and faint creasing.
