The card shows the Hearst Free Library in Anaconda, Montana, a Neoclassical building with a columned entrance portico, arched ground-floor windows, and a balustraded roofline, seen from the street corner with a low fence and utility poles in the foreground. Phoebe Apperson Hearst endowed the library; the Hearst family's copper fortune came from Butte and Anaconda, and in 1907 Anaconda was a copper-smelting center. A short note on the picture side, signed Mabelle, asks why the recipient has not written and hopes he is not ill.
