Hen and chicks with Easter eggs, "Loving Easter Greetings", circa 1910

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A brown hen with dark tail feathers stands at right while four yellow chicks gather around a cluster of colored Easter eggs — a large white one, plus pink and pale blue eggs — nestled among pink and white daisies, with a farmhouse and trees in the background. The greeting is printed in purple script across a pale gray-blue sky. Such Easter greeting cards were a staple of the early 20th-century postcard boom, when chromolithographed holiday designs were exchanged in enormous numbers.
