High Falls waterfall, High Falls, NY, 1908

About this postcard

The view looks across a broad cascade at High Falls, where water spills over a rock ledge into a rocky stream. Dense trees line both banks, and mist rises from the falls. The writer, Helen, calls it a pretty place near the house and asks how tennis is going. High Falls is a hamlet in Ulster County, New York, named for the cascade on the Rondout Creek. In the early 1900s, local scenic views like this were common souvenirs for residents and visitors.
