About this postcard

A large three-story school with a dark mansard roof, dormers, and a central cupola stands on a rise above landscaped park grounds. Formal flower beds, curving walks, benches, and a small pavilion at the left frame the building, and a few small figures stroll along the path in front. The printed caption places the scene at the high school in Branch Brook Park, Newark. The park was laid out in the 1890s as one of Essex County's large public grounds, and its walks, plantings, and nearby public buildings made it a familiar outing place in the early 20th century.
