About this postcard

The picture shows the High Water Mark of the Rebellion monument at Gettysburg: a tall granite obelisk on a stepped base, flanked by Civil War field cannon on their carriages, stacked cannonballs and a small stone building, with a row of red-and-white floral or flag markers along the drive. The monument, dedicated in 1892 by the Gettysburg Battlefield Memorial Association, marks the point of the furthest Confederate advance during Pickett's Charge on July 3, 1863, the climactic moment of the battle. The obelisk bears a bronze book listing the Union and Confederate units engaged there.
