About this postcard
A view across a broad lawn and curving drive toward large two-story houses with red tile roofs, set among mature trees in the Highland Park residential section of Dallas, Texas. Highland Park was laid out beginning in 1909 by Wilbur David Cook as one of the first planned suburban communities in the Southwest, adjacent to the new Southern Methodist University campus and connected to downtown Dallas by streetcar lines. The tile-roofed Mediterranean and Tudor-influenced houses seen here are typical of the neighborhood's early speculative development.
