About this postcard

At Hobbs Landing on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, a red clapboard boathouse and shed stand behind a wooden dock and a tall hoist frame. Canoes and rowboats are drawn up on the sand or moored at the float, and a few figures in dark clothing stand about the landing, one holding a red parasol in a boat at the lower right. In the early 1900s, Hobbs Landing was one of several steamer and livery landings serving summer visitors on Wolfeboro Bay. The sender's note from Alton Bay mentions a month's stay, a common summer arrangement in the lake region.
