About this postcard
A view across the artificial lake in Hollenbeck Park, Los Angeles, with a curving flower-lined walk along the near shore, palms and other ornamental trees, and a small island in the distance; two white waterfowl float on the water. The park was laid out in the 1890s on land donated by the Hollenbeck family in what is now the Boyle Heights area, and its lake and landscaped grounds made it a popular early-20th-century Los Angeles pleasure ground. The red-script caption is typical of color lithographic view cards of the period.
