Horseshoe Falls from Goat Island, Niagara Falls, circa 1910

About this postcard

A view of the curving crest of Horseshoe Falls seen through overhanging branches from Goat Island, with the Niagara River and mist below. Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three Niagara cataracts, carries the bulk of the Niagara River over a roughly 170-foot drop into the gorge; Goat Island, in New York State, separates it from the American Falls and has long been a favored vantage point for visitors. The card's red caption and tinted lithographic coloring are typical of early twentieth-century souvenir views of the falls.
