The photograph looks across the basin toward Horseshoe Falls, where the curving crest sends up a heavy veil of spray. A small excursion steamer works the churning water below, the kind of boat used by the Maid of the Mist, which has carried sightseers into the mist at Niagara since the 1840s. Horseshoe Falls is the broadest of Niagara's three cataracts and carries the greatest volume of water, which helps explain the spray and the boat's small scale.
Monochrome photographic print with a white border; scattered foxing/staining in the sky area and light wear at the corners.
No postmark, stamp, or handwriting — card is unused. Divided-back 'Post Card' with ornate lettering, 'Made in Germany.' printed vertically at left edge, and card number 12 47071 at lower right; c. 1907–1915 German-printed card. Back shows light foxing/toning and a small stain at upper right corner where a stamp would sit.
