About this postcard

The card pictures the Hotel El Tovar perched on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, with visitors walking a tree-lined path beside the canyon edge. The hotel opened in 1905, built by the Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railway and designed by Charles Whittlesey, and it became a signature stop for early Grand Canyon tourism. The printed copyright line dates this view to 1907.
