A tinted view of the Hotel Elton, a six-story brick and stone hotel on a Waterbury street corner, with an American flag flying from the roof and flower boxes at the windows. Pedestrians and horse-drawn vehicles fill the street below.
Waterbury was the center of American brass manufacturing, and a downtown hotel of this size served the trade the industry drew: company officers, traveling salesmen, and visitors to the city's factories and shops. The card was published locally by Alfred A. Adt.
White border around the image; copyright line "COPYRIGHTED, 1905, BY ALFRED A. ADT, WATERBURY, CONN." printed vertically along the right edge; printed number 111 at lower left of caption.
Undivided back, unused; no postmark, no handwriting. Government-style stamp box ("PLACE STAMP HERE / UNITED STATES, CUBA, CANADA, AND MEXICO / ONE CENT. / FOREIGN, TWO CENTS.") on privately printed stock; white border on front, matte printed texture. Light soiling/toning on the blank address side.
