About this postcard
The Hotel Jamestown stands on a downtown corner, a large red-brick hotel with an American flag flying above and automobiles and pedestrians at street level. The view places it in the commercial heart of Jamestown, a Chautauqua County city in western New York that was then a busy furniture-manufacturing center. Lucy E. Campbell of Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, sent the card to Edna Blythe in Richmond, Virginia, in January 1925, closing her short note with the formal "I remain as every Lucy E Campbell." Cards like this carried everyday family news between small towns and cities across state lines in the 1920s.
